Nevada Dispensary Association Concludes Successful Information-Seeking Talks with Denver Marijuana Leaders

LAS VEGAS, NEVADA—The Nevada Dispensary Association (NDA) with Nevada elected officials, including Senator Patricia Farley, Assemblyman Derek Armstrong and Assemblyman Nelson Araujo, appreciate the honest and informative talks they have enjoyed with Denver elected officials, regulators and industry leaders during an information-seeking trip to Denver spanning June 23-24.

“I appreciate the Nevada legislators, Senator Farley, Assemblyman Armstrong and Assemblyman Araujo, who took the time to gather information on Colorado’s approach to taxes, economic realities and public health relating to marijuana,” said Riana Durrett, executive director of the NDA.

Meetings included useful discussions with representatives of the Colorado Department of Public Health & Environment as well as the Colorado Division of Revenue to address marijuana industry do’s and don’t’s, the tax structure of medical versus adult use, economic impact, public health and safety costs and best practices as well as DUI laws.

Nevada representatives expressed their appreciation for the information gained during the trip, which will serve to inform future steps taken during Nevada’s growth period with marijuana in the state.

“I appreciate that the Nevada Dispensary Association organized such a comprehensive overview of Colorado’s system. Nevada has to brace for the tax and economic realities we may imminently face,” Senator Farley said at the conclusion of the talks.

Assemblyman Armstrong also expressed thanks for the information gained during the trip.
“Colorado has opened its doors the last couple days to Nevada legislators to impart the lessons they have learned over the last few years and I’m eager to help implement those lessons,” he said.
